WASHINGTON, D.C. Oct. 27, 2008 – MAS Freedom's Voting is Power
campaign, originally launched August 12, 2003, as a voter registration
and civic participation education program with a focus on engaging the
Muslim community in the political process.
One of the most important components of empowerment is political
empowerment. At MAS Freedom (MASF), the civic and human rights
advocacy entity of the Muslim American Society (MAS), we believe that
our ability to empower our community through political involvement
stems from understanding our obligations as Muslims.
Participating actively in the process of voting is a first step toward that
political empowerment so vital to our ultimate goal of raising and
campaign, originally launched August 12, 2003, as a voter registration
and civic participation education program with a focus on engaging the
Muslim community in the political process.
